JAKARTA, July 19, 2022 - The sandwich generation is a generation that occurs due to circumstances, having to bear the life of 3 generations including the generation above it, namely their parents; his own generation, namely himself, and the generation below him, namely the generation of his children. This condition is analogous to a sandwich where a piece of meat is squeezed by 2 pieces of bread. This generation is mostly found in developing countries such as Indonesia, which is thick with kinship values.
Financial factors are the main cause of the emergence of the sandwich generation. This usually happens because the generation above it, in this case the parents, did not prepare sufficient funds during their productive age, so that when they entered retirement age they had no income and had to depend on their children to meet the needs of their parents´ lives.
